As a doula and natural childbirth educator with Powerful Mamas over the past several years, Jacquelyn Duke has had the honor of working with hundreds of families as they prepare to bring their babies into this world. She can emphatically affirm that childbirth is beautiful, spectacular, and life-changing! Yet it is also incredibly intense, for everyone involved. At Powerful Mamas we believe that classes should teach about more than the phases of labor and hospital policies. Students need to know the art of informed decision making; a skill they will use during their birth but also throughout their lives. In the eight units broken into 23 mini-lessons, students of Powerful Mamas® Online Natural Childbirth Course will learn a variety of comfort measures, self-advocacy techniques and coping tools. Our course is not just one style or method that might have worked for your sister, neighbor or friend! Powerful Mamas® Online Natural Childbirth Course seeks to prepare you for the birth process, but also help you explore key topics, including choosing the right provider, birth location, and support team that will help you reach your goals. Most importantly, Powerful Mamas® Online Natural Childbirth Course offers an evidence-based curriculum, not advice based on opinions or out of date policies.
Powerful Mamas® Online Natural Childbirth Course offers opportunities for practice, questions, and peer interaction through our unique use of online student forums, polls and quizzes. In order to provide online students with the closest simulation of participation in a live, interactive course, all videos were filmed during live classes. Students will have the opportunity to hear their childbirth educator answering authentic student questions, demonstrating labor comfort measures, and providing honest insights on the US maternity care system. Online students will also have access to the same articles, activities and resources as live students; but will also have bonus visual aids and links to additional learning opportunities not available in a live class format.
