AMANDA HARDY, PHD, MA, LMHC, Doula, ICCE - In-Person, In-Home, or Web-Based Counseling Services from a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor and an experienced childbirth professional.
"Did you have a difficult pregnancy or birth journey? Are you having a difficult time adjusting to life with your newborn? Do you think you might need to talk to somebody about these feelings, but don’t know when you’ll be able to make that happen? I’ll come to you!
As a doula, childbirth educator, and mother I understand how difficult it can be in those early weeks and months to get out of the house to get to an appointment. Despite this, sometimes seeing someone to process what you’re experiencing is still necessary. Having been a doula for several years now, I’ve seen it all. I’m not uncomfortable with your messy home or the fact that you’ll be in your yoga pants, likely covered by baby spit-up and dried breast milk. I get it – in fact, I expect it.
I have a Master's degree from Monmouth University in Psychological Counseling and am licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC). I started working in the mental health field in 2005, but took some leave to re-enter graduate school in 2009. I earned my doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies in 2011. My work focuses on child development, parent-child relationships, and childbirth topics. I was certified as a birth doula(DONA, Intl.) in 2008 and a childbirth educator in 2010 (ICEA). I have worked with several national and international birth and human rights advocacy organizations over the years promoting improvement to our maternity care systems.
Fees:
I am in the process of applying to be in-network as a provider with several Iowa insurances; however, at present I am not able to directly bill insurance nor can I guarantee payment from insurance. This means that clients will have to pay out-of-pocket and submit to insurance themselves. I charge $75 per hour.
Making an appointment:
You can find out more about me or make an appointment by visiting hardy.breakthrough.com. I can also be reached at 515-218-9182 or DrAmandaHardy@gmail.com."
